A Bac Giang girl went on a cross-Vietnam road trip to celebrate her 25th birthday

Nguyen Thi Yen (Yen Vi Vu) spent the entire year 2022 preparing for a trip across Vietnam to celebrate her 25th birthday, including buying a manual transmission and practicing driving a few months in advance to get used to it.
Celebrate 25 in a very unique way with an inspiring journey through Vietnam
Remember that, while your legs are still healthy, if you don't have the trip of a lifetime, you will definitely regret it sooner or later. Therefore, Nguyen Thi Yen (Nickname: Yen Vi Vu, born in 1999, native of Bac Giang) decided to make a "backpacking" journey across Vietnam alone by motorbike, to celebrate her 25th birthday.

GenZ girl plans to "travel" across Vietnam alone, welcoming the age of 25
Yen Vi Vu graduated with a degree in Multimedia Communications from the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology. Currently, Yen is a full-time Travel Content Creator. The job is suitable for a girl who loves "traveling" like her.

Yen Vi Vu started in early 2023 and has now completed 2/3 of the journey
Up to now, Yen has visited 46 provinces and cities on the "S-shaped strip of land". After exploring all 63 provinces and cities in Vietnam, Yen plans to visit countries in Southeast Asia.
The youth of a girl from Bac Giang is therefore more colorful. The experiences she has on each trip are priceless.
The motivation for Yen Vi Vu to make a "lifetime" trip across Vietnam comes from her trip to An Giang with friends in 2020.
"We stayed at a homestay and the homestay owner was the one who inspired me to travel across Vietnam.
She and her daughter traveled across Vietnam for 5 months by motorbike, starting from An Giang in 2018. The photos posted on the wall following the S-shaped map of Vietnam and the stories she told made me drawn into that journey without realizing it.
However, at that time, I was a student so I didn't have much financial and life experience, so I wanted to do it before I was 25 years old. Because when I graduate, I will go to work and save more money" - Yen recalled.

She bought a manual transmission car and learned to drive 3 months ago.
In 2020 - 2021, the Covid-19 epidemic raged, causing Yen to postpone her trip. During that time, the Bac Giang girl tried to "plow" to work, learn life experiences, and build relationships through social networks.
And she spent all of 2022 preparing for the 10-month trip. Yen Vi Vu said, there are quite a few things to do before the trip:
- Plan detailed schedules and budget estimates. Check the list of necessary items to see if they already exist or need to be purchased. Yen prepared 20 million VND to go, enough money to cover the first few months. After that, I will work while traveling to have funds to continue traveling.
- Motorbike: Buy a motorbike 4 months in advance to get used to the manual transmission, test drive a few places like Ba Vi, Moc Chau, Bac Giang. Check for minor defects in the vehicle. Maintain your car before leaving.
- Clothes and personal belongings: Thin blankets, car repair tools, lubricants, raincoats, shoes.
- Working equipment: Camera, phone, flycam, battery charger, backup charger, laptop, memory card, tripod...
- Connect with friends in other provinces.
Yen Vi Vu confided:"There are two things that I am most concerned about while traveling across Vietnam alone by motorbike. The first is fear of meeting bad people, possibly being robbed or bullied, something bad happening.
Second is the fear of breaking down the car on the road. Because I'm a girl, I don't know much about motorbikes, and they're also about manual bikes. Not everywhere has a shop that specializes in repairing manual transmission vehicles."
300 days of traveling alone and "heart-stopping" experiences
Yen Vi Vu is fortunate to have her family support her passion for "traveling". A month before leaving, during a family meal, Yen talked about her plan to travel through Vietnam.
At first, her mother and sister were worried and asked for details about the trip plan. They were hesitant to see their daughter traveling alone for a long time, fearing that many problems would arise.
"After answering all the questions, everyone seemed more reassured and supported my journey. My father only told me one thing: "If you're young and healthy, just go, let me know." Actually, 3 years ago, I went to many places and recorded clips to post on YouTube. At home, my parents and grandchildren often watch it.
My parents see my love for traveling, traveling a lot, learning a lot, becoming more mature, so they support me."

A trip to explore the East - Northwest mountains with many memorable memories
Yen Vi Vu departs on January 30, 2023 (9th day of Tet). To date, she has gone more than half the way (7/10 months) and the progress is still according to plan.
During the series of days exploring the East - Northwest, Yen Vi Vu had many interesting and memorable memories. She admired the majestic mountains and forests, floating clouds in Ta Xua, Ha Giang, Son La, Lai Chau...
Taste mountain and forest specialties, learn about the unique culture of highland minorities such as H'Mong, Tay, Nung, Thai... through the stories and people she met. Yen is not afraid to participate in the experience of going to the forest, trekking, planting trees, waterfall skiing, and kayaking.
Coming down to the Central region, Yen was once again overwhelmed by the scenery of the mountains and forests of Western Quang Tri, Ly Son island, or the ancient beauty of Hoi An. The gentle people of Quang region and the Central region's cuisine also "cause great nostalgia" for travel blogger Bac Giang.

Ly Son Island (Quang Ngai) is wild and poetic
Yen shares unforgettable memories of driving from Dien Bien to Bac Yen, Son La. The 250km distance takes about more than 6 hours of continuous driving.
"After having lunch in Dien Bien, I set off at 11 o'clock, thinking it would be okay. Because I was engrossed in taking photos along the way and occasionally surfing social networks, I wasted time. It was 5 o'clock when I arrived in Son La, when it started to get dark.
The road from Co Noi intersection to Bac Yen is steep and deserted, with only a few houses occasionally. I was scared while driving.
When about 5km from Bac Yen, while going uphill, the wheel rotated. Could it be a punctured inner tube? I quickly stopped the car and came up with options in my head: call for help because I knew a woman in Bac Yen, or turn the car downhill to find a house and ask for a place to sleep...
When I turned on the phone's flash, I saw that there was no problem with the wheels, but there were car tire tracks on the road. Turns out I ran into the oil tanker's tracks so I got slippery and flipped my wheels. At that time, I breathed a sigh of relief and continued to Bac Yen.
The lesson learned is to calculate extra time to travel and rest along the way, in case of an accident, avoid traveling at night, and find a safe place to sleep before 5:00 p.m. Don't be reckless because safety comes first!"
Currently, the female travel blogger is continuing her journey across Vietnam to mark her 25th birthday. Traveling alone can be strange in the eyes of many people.
But for Yen, when she sets foot in a new land, immersing herself in exploring life with strangers, it is something worth trying.
The feeling of freedom to enjoy life, increase knowledge - a valuable experience that not everyone can do.
